You cant do what you want to do here using box-shadow. As it is, this is the best solution I've discovered so far. In this probably rather 'demanding' case either the pseudo-elements drop-shadow shines through the main containers background (approach 01) or the main containers box shadow shines through the svgs background (approach 02). If anyone knows how I can fix this shadow or knows of another way I can draw a line that I can easily manipulate the curve and length of while still applying a stroke and dropshadow to it, I'm all ears. Method 1: Using the Effects & Presets Panel Open the Effects & Presets. Try this for Angle: center thisComp.width,thisComp. There are two ways to add a drop shadow in After Effects: using the Effects & Presets panel or using the Layer Styles menu. Next, we’ll reveal the drop shadow only where we want it to fall. I assume you’re talking about the Layer Style Drop Shadow. In this case, the menu command Layer> Add Layer Mask> Hide All is appropriate, which adds a layer mask that’s completely filled with black. Drop Shadow effects, as well as links to their parameters, will be pasted to. It looks like it's picking up the white color from the stroke even though I have the shadow set to use the color Black. To edit the drop shadow, we’ll use a layer mask rather than simply erasing the unwanted areas of the drop shadow. color scheme and style to use for all your text overlays. However, the dropshadow is showing up more like a white glow than a black shadow. So I then drop this path composition into my main composition where I can position it over the map and give it a white stroke and a dropshadow. As it is a stroke on a path for ease of animation, I find that I cannot add a white stroke to it. I make the stroke of this path the color I need for the body of my line (red or blue), set the stroke width to 24 and set it's line caps to Round Cap, and set the opacity of the fill to 0. The drop shadow is decent, right A bit small but not aggressive. By default this drop shadow is quite nice IMO. I have the preview selected and all but the shadow - 11005138. A drop shadow is now added to that layer. Solved: Hey all, Just working with the latest release and I cant get the Drop Shadow to work on my image. Other flesh tones can be made by mixing in other umbers, siennas, ochers, some. I found that, if I applied the drop shadow and then resized the canvas, afterwards, everything worked fine. not exposed to very much sun), a well tanned color or darker ethnic tones. Because the lines can change shape and length, I found that my best option is to draw a line path in a composition that I can animate the shape and length of (using trim path). The drop shadow was applied to the entire canvas. I need to animate bunch of styled lines on a map that are either blue or red in color with a white stroke around them. Thank you for taking the time to read this and help me out.
